Kime’s Summer 2014 Essentials by Skateboarding’s Finest SkateHouse:
- Skateboarding’s Finest SkateHouse board - size 8, finally rolling with the big boys!
- Olympus Trip 35 - The name of the camera pretty much says it all. Perfect point and shoot camera to travel with + a Lomography 100 color roll.
- Leica Mini II - Another perfect point and shoot camera to carry around while going around. It’s really lightweight and it has a flash, for when things get nasty, You know + a Kodak 400 color roll. No black & white this summer!
- Canon 310XL Super8 camera + a Kodak Vision 3/200t color film - a.k.a. the “Summertime Sadness” look for Your typical holidays video. Except only for the fact that Lana Del Rey’s video super8 treatment is fake.
- Cheap sunglasses I - If there’s something I can’t do, is take care of my sunglasses, I’ve had so many and spent so much money on them over the last few years, that I got really tired of breaking, losing or forgetting them all the time. So I just decided to buy some cheaper shades at this really cool spot I found in St. Tropez a couple years ago and not worry about them so much anymore since I go back there every year and buy some more.
- Vans Sk8-Hi Pro - Don’t get fooled by the look of the shoes, these kicks are dope for both summer and winter time! Try them and judge for Yourself if You don’t believe me!
- ID Card - One cool thing about traveling through Europe is that You can just bring this little thing with You and go anywhere. So…
- iPhone 5s + Foursquare App - Everyone knows that I’m pretty addicted to my device and that I’ll probably couldn’t live without it. But another thing I’m pretty addicted too is Foursquare. Fuck what people say, this app is amazing, especially when You travel, to find good spots to eat, sleep, chill, party, etc. and not least to track back your movements and eventually advise those places to Your buddies.
(marked as 8 on the image) - Tiger Balm - As I’m about to turn 27, I decided that it was the best moment to start play football again, not the smartest move maybe, but I love it and it’s fun, so this tiger balm is pretty much my life-saver, even not just after the game.
II (marked as 9 again on the image) - GoPro Hero3 Black Edition - Everything about summer looks better in 120 fps and summertime - time lapses are dope. Trust me.
- Vans Short Sleeve Button Up Shirt - F.A.F. : FRESH AS FUCK
- Passport - As I previously said, I’ll be traveling through Europe this summer, so theoretically I will not use this item, but just in case…You never know!
- Cheap Sunglasses II - "Got so many shades they thought I had a lazy eye" Rick Ross cit. Ahah just kiddin’, but still I bring a couple pairs with me just in case I lose, break, or forget one somewhere like I’m used to.
- Business Cards - I’m on holiday, right, but business is business and it does not wait until the vacation ends. Plus, summertime is a dope time to extend Your network.
- ATM Card - My portable safe.
- Nike+ Fuel Band - Bought this thing in December and never got it off my wrist (except for shooting this photo). This activity tracker is hella great, helps me get my ass off the desk and do some activity whenever I do work too much and move too few. It’s good for my health and I’m certainly not leaving it at home this summer.
- Apple EarPods - I don’t think they need any description, do they?
- Cash - “Hunnid Stax” at least! I’m not much of a big spender, but sometimes it happens that I get a bit freaky and buy things. For God’s sake I worked my ass off almost 7 on 7 all year long, may I reward myself sometimes?
- Sharpie - It’s a Sharpie!
- Paul Smith Toothbrush - Mine’s blue, my girlfriend’s pink. Easy right? Don’t forget to wash Your teeth at least 3 times a day, kid!
- "Damn Good Advice" by George Lois - Found this book in the Palazzo Grassi’s bookshop in Venice, rode a couple pages, bought it and decided it was going to be my summer book! You don’t know who George Lois is? Click HERE.
- Bentley Car Key 8gb USB Stick - This is the gadget I usually troll people with, pretending I own a Bentley, and it’s extremely funny. But besides that (unfortunately) is a pretty decent 8gb USB stick in which I keep everything I could need while abroad.
- Earplugs - When You might spend quite a decent time on trains, buses, or even planes, earplugs are a true essential, whether Your’re planning to read, sleep, or just rest, these two little and weightless things are a must have in Your travel kit.
- Vans Camp 6 Panel Hat - You wouldn’t believe how light and fresh this hat is even if You had it on Your head. Guess why I’m bringing it with me this summer.
- Bottle Opener - See N° 25 to know what I’m using it for.
- Ice Cold Beer - That’s why I put N° 24 on the list. Probably one of the most enjoyable things during summer: You can drink it at home, on a terrace, on the beach, poolside, at night, during the day, even during the morning sometimes, while grilling, while swimming, while brunching, You can get crazy drunk on it and still want to drink some more the day after, You can drink it to cure Your hangover…OK STOP, I could go on for days with that, but I think You know what I’m talking about. Oh, I’m drinking one right now, Cheers!
- Crazy Tropez Rosé Wine - That’s a quite cheap rosé wine from St. Tropez, but it brings good memories to my head every time I drink it. So every summer I buy a few bottles of it and bring them home with me. It’s also what The Ambassadors drink to celebrate every time we finish a mixtape. So each year I have to make sure there’s enough bottles for 11 months of work!
